Presidents Karzai and Obama Meet in Chicago

President Obama acknowledges the hardship that the Afghan people have been through during this decade of war against terrorism. He says in this bilateral meeting with President Karzai: “We recognize the hardship that the Afghan people have been through during these many many years of war.” He also mentioned that there are a lot of challenges ahead. “There will be hard days ahead, but we are confident that we are on the right track.”

“So long as [the Afghan people] are reflecting that resilience and  that hope for a better future, [AFGHANS] WILL HAVE A FRIEND IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. ”
